News from Silica Hill. Clancy Designs Out and About this Winter.

Every now and then we have an opportunity to get, as the locals call it, “Off Island”. Either we have a craft show to attend, a sculpture to deliver, or if we’re lucky a vacation to enjoy. Below are some images from the last few months of adventure. In this chilly and wet spring of our Rhode Island home it is nice to be entertained by the memories of our travels before the events of Summer kick in. Enjoy!

While in Boston doing the Craft Boston Show held by the Society of Arts and Crafts we ventured over to the Prudential Building to peruse the goods at Eataly. Low and behold we discovered next years Christmas gift to each other – a giant wheel of Parmesan Cheese. Delicious!

Our family (including our dog, Sweedle) loves Parmesan Cheese – I mean we REALLY love it!!!

Later on in winter we were in Baltimore doing the American Craft Council’s Fine Craft Show. We had a good time doing the show and met all sorts of new people there – art and craft collectors not just from Maryland and DC but from Colorado, California and Florida too!.

During our evenings off we had the pleasure of spending time with our dear friend Mike, purveyor and brew master of fine craft beer at Key Brewery in Dundalk, Maryland. The brewery is an excellent place to spend an afternoon or evening sipping the tasty selections and playing pool or ping-pong.

We were a mutual admiration club of those loving Dogs and Beer.

Our journey home was a fine time to just let the mind wander as we rolled down the highway.

and, to contemplate our next project…

Custom spirits bottles hand crafted perfectly to suit the homemade Calvados that will contain them.

Project successfully completed we made our way south for a bit of R & R.

There were warm days at the beach in St Pete, and cool evenings watching the sun dip into the Gulf.

A fun day, including a wild golf cart ride, was had by all visiting friends in Boca Grande.

An educational time with flora, fauna, and sea creatures kept our minds working and our creative spirits inspired. LOVE the orchids from Boca Blooms – we might just have to make those out of glass!!!

After a well earned rest we headed home to a very cold and wet Rhode Island. Still, spring is here and pretty soon the gardens surrounding the glass studio and our home will begin to bloom signalling that summer can’t be very far off…

We hope to see you all here on the Island of Jamestown sometime soon!
